Ibiza Old Town (Eivissa)
Dalt Villa (Old Town)
We visited Ibiza Old Town from our hotel in Playa D’en Bossa in 25 minutes on bus number 14 (€2). The final destination is Eivissa so you don’t have to worry about getting off at the right stop.
We travelled into the town at 10am so we could climb to Dalt Villa without it being too warm. Dalt Villa translates to “Upper Town”and is a fortified old town on a hill overlooking the sea. In 1999 it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We recommend heading straight to the top through the fortified gate and the old city walls to witness the beautiful views over the coast.
You can then meander your way down via cobbled streets, the Santa Maria d’Eivissa Cathedral and beautiful houses adorned with purple flowers. We had no route – as long as you head down then you will be fine! We loved exploring all the nooks and crannies and small thin side streets.
Modern Town
After exploring Dalt Villa, we headed to the newer part of the town surrounded by Ibiza port. There are plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants to keep you entertained and it is always interesting eyeing up the large yachts!
We also fell in love with Below Zero Ibiza situated in the heart of Ibiza Port. You can’t miss the eye catching pastel pink design with the walls featuring catchy slogans such as “stay cool” and “nobody wants ice cream in a cone anymore”. You get to experience the fresh ice cream being made in front of your eyes, with every order customised. The menu includes ice cream rolls served in hot bubble waffle, ice cream tacos and a candyfloss burrito.
The homemade vanilla recipe is prepared every day and forms the base of the ice cream. This is mixed and rolled at minus 20 degrees with your chosen flavour. We opted for the Hot Bubble Waffle with Strawberry and Nutella which was absolutely divine. The hot and cold contrast always works for me. Our favourite however was the Kinder Bueno and Milkybar ice cream taco topped with marshmallows, chocolate sauce and more Kinder Bueno. It was absolutely unreal – one of the best desserts I have ever had!
Overall
We recommended a trip to Ibiza Town to explore the old and newer parts and spend a day relaxing. Climb to the top of Dalt Villa for stunning views and then cool yourself down with a treat from Below Zero Ibiza!
