Hotel in Lyon
Mercure Lyon Centre Beaux Arts
At the heart of the city centre in the first arrondissement is Mercure Beaux Arts, situated in a beautiful 19th century building. This hotel in Lyon was in an ideal location for exploring the city and situated near many shops, sites and restaurants. It is an eight minute walk from the hotel to the Old Town and a five minute walk to Place Bellacour.
The hotel was around 2 km from the main train station and 30 km from the airport. You can book a taxi through the hotel in advance for a flat fare of €65. If you pick up a taxi from the airport, it may be higher or lower depending on the traffic and time of night.
When travelling around the city you can use local taxis or Uber (around €10 a journey). On the way back to the airport we travelled from our hotel to the train station for just under €10. We then took the Rh?ne express from outside the train station. This tram takes 30 minutes to the travel to the airport and runs every 15 minutes (€16.10).
Our Room
We booked in advance through for Friday to Sunday night, which was around €70 per night. Breakfast was an additional €18 per person so we decided to visit some of the local cafes instead.
We stayed in a basic double bedroom which was fairly spacious and equipped with a TV, fridge, safe complimentary tea and coffee and bottled water. The bathroom was modern and spacious with complimentary toiletries. The hotel has free Wi-Fi and the reception desk is staffed 24 hours a day. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and were communicative in advance of our stay.
Overall
We would recommend this hotel in Lyon for its central location and modern art deco rooms. You may as well skip the breakfast and enjoy some of tasty treats from a local delicatessen.
