Galvin Bistrot & Bar is a French restaurant in Spitalfields from the renowned Galvin brand. The large outdoor terrace is perfect for al fresco French dining on the warmer days. Galvin Bistrot Menu

The menu is concise with a small number of options for each course. Emphasis is placed on the quality of ingredients with the menu changing seasonally. All produce is ethically grown and harvested by the farmers, fishermen and suppliers Galvin Bistro has known for decades.

The menu is split into Petites Assiettes (Snacks), Entrees (Starters), Plats Principaux (Mains) and Desserts & Cheese. We had the following dishes:

  • Ham & Cheese Croquettes
  • Padron peppers & Espelette pepper
  • Seared Scallops, Morel Velvoute, Asparagus & Wild Garlic
  • Rib Eye Steak, Frites, Beurre Maitre d’hotel
  • Free Range Chicken Breast, Bouillon De Ravioles de Royans, Pistou
  • Crème Brulée & Vanilla Shortbread

These dishes seriously impressed. You MUST order the croquettes which were so creamy and moreish as a snack. The scallops were large and meaty with the accompanying ingredients complimenting the dish well.

If you are a steak fan, the rib eye was full of flavour and not very fatty given the type of cut. As for the Crème Brulee, it was the best I have ever tasted – so creamy with the perfect crunch on top and served with rhubarb for that contrast tartness.

Overall

Galvin Bistrot is an excellent French restaurant in Spitalfields offering premium produce from a short menu. All dishes were fantastic, the service was friendly and the surroundings were relaxed. It’s a perfect place for a date night, catch up with friends or business lunch. Set menus are also available if you are on more of a budget as the main dishes are around £25.
