Takeaways in Bishop’s Stortford

Before I moved to the area, I checked the range of takeaways in Bishop’s Stortford. Does anyone else do that?! My friend moved to a new area and didn’t check and it turns out that not many places deliver. She was devastated! Thankfully for me and the Bishop’s Stortford community, there are plenty of amazing takeaways. Phew.

Here are some of the best takeaways in Bishop’s Stortford:

  1. Petrucci’s Pizza Bishop’s Stortford

Petrucci’s Pizza offer delicious stone baked pizza, garlic bread and homemade dips. The Don Petrucci: Tomato sauce, Fior di latte Mozzarella, Spicy Calabrese Nduja Sausage and Sliced Napoli Pepperoni was simply fantastic. Even better news is that you can upgrade to an extra large pizza from their menu! Pizza’s priced from £8.95.

  1. Katsu Charlie

Katsu Charlie is here for all of your katsu curry needs (chicken escalope, breaded prawns or pumpkin) with delivery available through GoGetters. They also have delicious gyoza (chicken & veg or spinach & veg) as well as edamame beans. Katsu from £11.

  1. Buffalo Joe’s Bishop’s Stortford

Buffalo Joe’s are all about chicken – a lot of chicken in fact! They came 2nd place with their Korean wings in 2017 at WingFest & were the Judges Choice Winner. Wings wise they have Buffalo Wings with a blue cheese dip, Korean Wings with sesame seeds, spring onion, chilli, crushed wasabi peas & wasabi mayo and Honey G Wings with siracha, honey, garlic & lime based sauce. Throw in a number of chicken burgers and you can have a feast. Delivery available through GoGetter with burgers from £10.50 – one of my favourite takeaways in Bishop’s Stortford.

  1. Dough and Co

Dough and Co has a wide range of 12 inch woodfired pizza’s on its menu. The Buffalo Chicken One: Buffalo Base Sauce, Fior Di Latte Mozzarella, Chicken Breast, Baby Pepper, Blue Cheese Dip, Rocket was delicious, particularly with the dip on the side. As we love nduja, The Very Spicy One: Tomato Base Sauce, Fior Di Latte Mozzarella, Mascarpone, Spicy Nduja Sausage, Rocket was a winner for us. Just Eat offer a package meal deal for £30 which is great value.

  1. Ruby’s

Ruby’s is a great Indian restaurant in Bishop’s Stortford who offers their takeaway menu at discounted prices compared to dining in (many others charge the same price).

There are plenty of main dishes including Ruby Specials, Traditional Curry dishes and Tandoori and Grills. The King Prawn Malaba with whole Fresh King Prawns cooked in a creamy coconut sauce with green chilli and curry is a fantastic dish. The BiryNaani is another great dish cooked inside a nan bread is traditional biryani (chicken, lamb or vegetable) served with a yoghurt sauce.

Ruby’s do their own delivery and prices for main dishes start at £8.95.

  1. Baan Thitiya

If you are craving Thai food, Baan Thitiya is the one, available through GoGetters. They have set menus for 2 and 4 people (meat and veggie) as well as their a la carte menu. I recommend the following dishes

  • DIM SUM: Steamed minced pork and crab meat dumplings, topped with fried garlic, served with sweet soy sauce
  • PANAENG CURRY: Thai curry cooked in red curry paste, kaffir lime leaves an coconut milk.
  • TAMARIND DUCK: Breast of duck, sliced, grilled then fried with vegetables and tamarind sauce
  • PAD THAI : Thai fried noodle with egg, crushed peanut and beansprout.

The main dish portions are large and the food was fresh and tasty. Prices from £10 for main dishes.

  1. Cibo

Cibo is a family run restaurant in Bishop’s Stortford celebrating traditional and authentic Sicilian cuisine. They offer takeaway directly or through GoGetters with a range of starters, pastas, pizzas, main courses and sides. One of my favourite starters, Polpette Al Suco, features on the menu and the Piccante pizza (spicy salami) is delicious. Main dishes starting from £9.95.

  1. The Yeerologist

I am super excited to have a Greek eat in and takeaway option in Bishop’s Stortford. Available for takeaway via Go Getters and dine in at Eat 17, the Yeerlogist offers absolutely packed out souvlaki and gyros with all of the trimmings. Always tasty and great quality. Prices start from £8.90.

  1. China City

China City used to be the best Chinese takeaway in Bishop’s Stortford with collection only. The previous owners retired recently and the business is under new ownership – the food is not quite as good as it used to be.

The food I had under the previous ownership was fantastic (not too greasy and has flavour), the portions were huge and it is was so reasonably priced. We had sweet and sour chicken balls, sticky chilli beef, Malaysian chow mien, kung po chicken, seaweed, dumplings, prawn crackers, pork fried rice and duck with plum sauce which only came to £40! 2 huge dinners (and a small lunch) for 2 people. Bargain

  1. Smoke BBQ

You must try Smoke BBQ for your meat fix! They slow cook the meats in an original wood smoker for up to 12 hours while mopping for moisture. The meats are then finished off on the lump wood coal grill for that extra crispiness and amazing barbecued flavour. Available via GoGetters, the Combo Platter is a great feast for two with Texas Style Beef Brisket, St Louis Meaty Pork Ribs, Alabama Chicken, SBK Sausage, served with garlic bread, corn on the cob, slaw, fries, dips & house pickle.
