Wine Bars in London

If you love wine then you will want to find these wine bars in London – I’ve included 5 of the best ones I have visited in London.

Plume Wine Bar

Sparkling wine specialists, Plume, are nestled into a beautiful two storey wine bar in Covent Garden. The team at Plume has curated a selection of bubbles and wines from around the world, with a focus on unusual vintages from small and unknown experimental winemakers.

There are some great small and larger plates to accompany the wines including Tempura Prawns, Padron Peppers and Cumin & Paprika Hummus as well as cheese and charcuterie boards.

Gordon’s Wine Bar

London’s oldest wine bar, Gordons, was established in 1890 and is nestled between Charing Cross and Embankment stations. It has an outdoor seating area with heaters and a gorgeous vaulted candlelit cellar indoor area surrounded by oak barrels, old photographs and newspaper clippings. It certainly makes for a romantic date night!

The wine list is extensive with plenty of wines available by the class. The r food menu offers more than 15 different cheeses, a selection of charcuterie and mezze options.

Vivat Bacchus

Vivat Bacchus is a South African inspired wine bar in Farringdon with delicious food to accompany the wine. Their motto is “life’s too short to drink bad wine” which I totally appreciate!

The menu has South African influences with a focus of meats on the grill including Iberico {Pork Chop, T-Bone Steak and Peri Peri Chicken Flattie).

Humble Grape Wine Bar

Humble Grape is a group of five wine bars across London offering over 400 sustainable wines. They also import from small production, family-run organic vineyards with some wines only available in the UK through Humble Grape.

They offer small and large plates to accompany the wine, including a well priced set lunch menu.

Vagabond

Vagabond Wines have 9 locations in London offering over 100 wines on their extensive menu. My favourite aspects of Vagabond are the wine machines where you can choose different wines of varying size level. It’s such a good way to sample a few without breaking the bank. They helpfully classify the wines based on taste e.g. white wines are split into crisp, aromatic and rich.
